SERGI TRANSFORMER PROTECTOR, a French company founded in 1955, has expertise of more than 50 years in the field of transformer protection. SERGI TP is an ISO 9001:2015 certified company.

In 1995, SERGI TP launched an intensive research program to understand the physical phenomena of transformer explosions. As a result, SERGI TP has created, designed and manufactured the TRANSFORMER PROTECTOR (TP) which is the only proven solution against transformer explosions.

During a transformer short-circuit, the TRANSFORMER PROTECTOR (TP) is activated within milliseconds by the first dynamic pressure peak of the shock wave, avoiding transformer explosions before static pressure increases.

SERGI TP has performed 62 live tests in:

• Electricite de France (EDF) High Voltage Laboratory in 2002 (28 tests)

• CEPEL Independent High voltage Laboratory in 2004 (34 tests). During all 62 tests, the TP always succeeded in preventing the transformer from exploding.

As a result, the TP is the only proven solution that complies with a transformer fast depressurization system as defined by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) for all Power Plants and Substations in Code 850, Edition 2015, Recommended Practice for Fire Protection for Electric Generating Plants and High Voltage Direct Current Converter Stations.

The TP can be installed on all transformers, existing and new, rated from 0.1 MVA to 1,000 MVA and above. The TP is the sole solution that prevents transformer explosion and fire caused by low impedance short-circuits. The TP benefits are:
